Heores Of Wha?
From the beginning, the rapso group 3 Canal has been a force to be reckoned with. 3 Canal stormed onto the scene with their smash hit Blue, turning Trinidad Carnival 1997 up side down. Making a statement visually, musically and lyrically is an art that they have perfected. Their latest release Heroes Of Wha? continues the musical adventure we've come the expect from 3 Canal. Heroes Of Wha? is a compilation of some of 3 Canal's best material together with several new and exciting tunes. Oldies include their classic hit Blue, as well as big hits such as Talk Yuh Talk, Salt and Mud Madness. Noticeably absent is Black Attack, my personal favorite 3 Canal hit. Why is it that when an artist does a "best of" CD they always seem to leave off one of their best tunes? Oh well, it's still a great CD even without Black Attack.
One of the new tracks Welcome, with its smooth rhythm, is a warm welcome to carnival and to Trinidad the birthplace of pan. Watch Dem has a catchy rhythm, conscious lyrics and top-notch guitar work. Heat In The Place is 3 Canal at their very best; outstanding vocals, strong hook line, infectious rhythm and tons of energy. With background vocals by the up-and-coming Trini group Fate, Heat In The Place is hot, hot, hot!
Heroes Of Wha? is dedicated to John Isaacs, founding member of 3 Canal, who departed from this world on February 9, 2000 due to severe kidney problems. If John were here today, he'd be proud of this one. Good work guys.
